Single-beam Hydrographic Surveys
CRA Canada Surveys uses HYPACK (Coastal Oceanographics Inc.) or CATNAV Software(Designed and Programmed by CRA-NW)
for collecting and processing single beam or multi-beam bathymetric Data. Single beam data is acquired using Odom
survey quality echo sounders and Trimble DGPS Receivers aboard a coast guard approved survey boat. Once the survey is complete
the data is edited and transformed into a final XYZ data set. This data set can be turned over to the client at this
time or CRA can produce a plan that includes contours, depths and cross sections on your desired datum. All plans are
produced in AutoCAD .DWG format; Micro station format is also available.

Multi-beam Hydrographic Surveys
CRA-NW operates a fully functional RESON - SEABAT 8124 swath system
that incorporates full motion sensing and correction, heading, and
simultaneous side scan data acquisition. Horizontal positioning is
achieved using real time differential GPS, or the more accurate, real-time
kinematic method. These systems provide complete bottom coverage over a
swath width up to 3.5 times the water depth. This means that with only a few
passes through the work area, data can be obtained on as little as a 30cm grid
ensuring that no high spots are missed that might result in a ship grounding.
